A 22-year-old woman who allegedly bit her husband’s lover in Maili Nne estate in Eldoret town has pleaded guilty to the charges of grievous harm.
Rachael Nasimiyu confessed to biting off a left thumb of her love rival.

Ms Nasimiyu, who admitted the charge before Principal Magistrate Mogire Onkoba, is said to have assaulted Mercy Sitati on June 17, 2023, subjecting her to grievous harm contrary to section 251 of the penal code.

On the day of the incident, the complainant, who runs a food kiosk at Maili Nne, was on her way to a shop when she met Ms Nasimiyu who confronted her before biting her thumb off.

The accused is said to have accosted Ms Sitati while accusing her of cohabiting with her husband. Court documents indicate that during the ensuing confrontation, Ms Nasimiyu allegedly bit off Ms Sitati ‘s left thumb.

Immediately after the incident Ms Nasimiyu allegedly told the victim that missing finger will always be a reminder to her of the consequences of snatching someone’s husband.
