Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki says he will not relent in sustaining the momentum in clearing the backlog in the processing of passports.
The CS met with senior Immigration State Department officers, led by Immigration PS Prof. Julius Bitok and Director General of Immigration Evelyn Cheluget to asses the changing operational environment for service delivery.
The CS directed the immigration top brass to establish mechanisms that will facilitate seamless delivery of processed and printed passports to the applicants.
“…there is no turning back on the operational and policy instituted at the immigration department. The backlog must be cleared and all subsequent applications processed expeditiously…,” said Kindiki
Over 80,000 printed passports remain uncollected.
Kindiki later made a visit to the Civil Registry Services offices in Upper Hill, to get a first hand experience of persons seeking birth and death certificates for their loved ones.
He directed the Directorate, headed by John Mwangemi to fast-track issuance of the documents and improve customer experience.
This includes the establishment of special counters for expectant mothers, lactating mothers and parents or guardians accompanied by toddlers as well the elderly and persons with disability.
